The castle of La Pouyade (XIXth c.) dominates the Charente valley from the heights of the St-Yrieix hillside. The property, which was hit hard by the storm of 1999, needs to be renewed, especially since the castle has become the Mecca for cultural and private events in Angoulême. The square in front of the castle has been entirely remodeled in Charente stone, the park has been recomposed and revegetated, and the two large parking spaces have been integrated into the surrounding agricultural landscape.
