Renaturation of the pedestrian artery
Angoulême - France
As part of an overall policy to enhance Angoulême’s historic center, Rue Hergé is to undergo a major transformation focusing on planting, creating cool spaces and limiting motorized traffic.
This project is part of the Plan de Sauvegarde et de Mise en Valeur (PSMV) for Angoulême’s city center, an area classified as a “remarkable heritage site” since 2015.
The originality of the project lies in the choice of plant palette, inspired by the ecosystems of the Anguienne limestone valleys. Adapted to difficult urban conditions, these local species, typical of the dry soils of the Charente pubescent oak grove, offer greater resilience to summer droughts.
