La coulée Vimière

Angoulême - Charente

The Vimière corridor development project is rooted in the heart of the working-class Grand-Font district, which is currently undergoing profound change. The aim is to create an ecological walkway linking the glacis of the Victor Hugo rampart to Square Darras. The project respects the principles of the “Trame Verte et Bleue” (green and blue network) to guarantee ecological continuity. It also includes the creation of soft links to facilitate movement between neighborhoods, as well as solutions for managing rainwater. Public spaces that are currently under-utilized and those that will become so after demolition as part of an Opération de Renouvellement Urbain will be redeveloped. The “Coulée Vimière” will serve as the district’s new main thoroughfare, incorporating relaxation areas, playgrounds and a “Maison de la Biodiversité”, and will help to embellish the entrance and heart of the district.
